Overview
If Normandy and Brittany aren't already on your bucket list, they deserve a spot. Just a short drive from Paris along the picturesque Seine River, this remarkable French region has a unique character that will enchant you at every turn. We'll journey through iconic locales, like the majestic cliffs of Étretat, the charming harbor town of Honfleur, historic Omaha Beach, breathtaking Mont Saint-Michel, and the fortified town of Saint-Malo. Normandy’s pastoral landscapes, with their rolling fields, apple orchards, half-timbered farms, and thatched cottages, reflect its deep-rooted connections to Britain. In contrast, Brittany’s rugged coastline, granite architecture, and Breton language showcase its rich Celtic heritage. Normandy and Brittany are home to some of France's most cherished culinary delights. From creamy Camembert and robust Calvados to delicate crepes, refreshing cider, and salted butter caramels, Breton biscuits, succulent scallops, and fresh oysters, the region’s gastronomy is a feast for the senses. Small wonder these areas have become a haven for food enthusiasts! Prepare to be awed by some of France’s most exquisite gardens, including Monet's Gardens at Giverny, the "Jardin Remarquable" at Château de Miromesnil, and the Gardens of Étretat. Even if gardening isn't your passion, the landscapes' sheer beauty will captivate you.

FAQs
What airport should I fly into?
Fly into either of Paris' international airports, Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or Orly (ORY). CDG will have more flight options, but it's farther from Paris. ORY will have fewer choices but is closer to the city center.
What day should I arrive?
The trip officially starts on June 27th, but if you're flying overnight to get to France, you may want to consider arriving early to rest, relax, and adjust to the local time zone. Having a few extra days in Paris is ALWAYS a good idea!
There's an Arrive Early option you can purchase in the Add-On section of this page, and we'll take care of booking your accommodation to ensure you'll stay in the same room once the trip starts.
Are airport transfers included?
Airport transfers are not included. It's very easy to grab a taxi from the airport to your destination in Paris. All transportation in Normandy and Brittany is included.
What will the weather be like in July?
The weather is nice in July. High temperatures are around 74°F, and low temperatures are around 55°F. However, the weather is changing, and we could see higher temperatures in July.
What should I pack?
We will have a Zoom call about 6 weeks before the trip starts to discuss all that information and give you a packing list. Here is a great website that we love that will help you with packing and travel trips.
What should I know about the physical demands of the walks on Day 3 at Etretat and Day 7 at Mont St-Michel?
On Day 3, the walk up to the cliffs at Etretat includes steep, uneven terrain and stairs leading down to the beach with no handrails. The Gardens of Etretat are planted on the side of the cliff, featuring steep terraces and sets of stairs, which can be challenging. For those who need assistance, a tourist train is available for both the morning nature walk and the afternoon garden visit.
On Day 7, Mont St-Michel involves a long ascent with many flights of stone steps without handrails and steeply inclined streets, so travelers should be prepared for these physically demanding walks on both days, reaching up to 5 miles each.
What are the new travel requirements for entering Europe?
The European Union will soon require travelers from visa-exempt countries like the U.S. and Canada to obtain travel authorization before entering most EU countries. This new system, called ETIAS, is expected to start in late 2026, but exact dates have not been announced.
Since ETIAS is not yet in effect, there’s nothing you need to do right now. We will update all Girls' Guide customers as soon as applications open.
