Overview
Picture yourself wandering through Renaissance gardens where queens once strolled, raising a glass of ruby Chinon as golden autumn light spills across medieval stone. This is the Loire Valley in October—and this journey is designed exclusively for women who crave beauty, history, and the art of living well. The Loire Valley's legendary chateaux—Chambord with its double-helix staircase rumored to be designed by da Vinci, Chenonceau arching gracefully over the Cher River, and Villandry and its magnificent gardens—are merely the beginning. Between these architectural marvels, we'll lose ourselves in cobblestoned villages where time moves at the pace of a leisurely lunch, and discover gardens so exquisitely designed they feel like stepping into a living painting. France reveals herself most intimately through food and wine, and the Loire doesn't disappoint. We'll time our visit to coincide with the fall harvest, when market stalls overflow with wild mushrooms, heritage apples, and game. The region's wines tell their own stories: elegant Sancerre that captures minerality in a glass, honeyed Vouvray that ranges from bone-dry to lusciously sweet, and our founder's beloved Chinon Cabernet Franc with its notes of violet and graphite. Each glass is an education, each meal a celebration. October in the Loire is pure magic. Daytime temperatures hover around a comfortable 65°F (18°C), cooling to crisp 50°F (10°C) evenings perfect for lingering over dinner. The summer throngs have departed, leaving the châteaux and villages peacefully yours to explore. The air is clear and dry, the light impossibly golden, and the vineyards blaze with autumn color. The Loire’s hottest cultural ticket at this time of year is the art show at the Domaine de Chaumont Arts and Nature Center, which we'll be attending. This is travel as it should be: deeply felt, luxuriously paced, and shared among women who understand that the greatest journeys aren't just about where you go, but who you become along the way.

What are the new travel requirements for entering Europe?
Beginning in late 2026, travelers from visa-exempt countries—including the U.S., Canada, and Australia—will need an ETIAS permit to visit most of Europe. No action is needed just yet. As we get closer to the launch date, likely several months in advance, we’ll share all the details on how to apply. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
What is the activity level of this trip?
We require that everyone traveling with Girls' Guide be able to comfortably walk 3–5 miles per day unassisted, and without difficulty, can navigate stairs, uneven streets or paths, and occasional steep terrain. Most of our trips require this level of physical mobility and fitness, especially when visiting historic towns and landmarks where vehicle access is limited and walking often offers the best experience.
Additionally, some of the 4 and 5-star boutique or historic hotels we stay in do not have elevators and may require climbing stairs to get to your room or access other facilities in the hotel.
