Welcome to Fontvieille

Day 1: Wednesday, October 20, 2027

We'll gather at 8:50 am at a cafe near Paris' Gare de Lyon station. A Girls' Guide representative will meet us there and escort us to our train platform, where we'll board our first-class seats. The train leaves at approximately 9:38 am. We'll have a lovely, 3-hour ride through the French countryside to Avignon.

If you're arriving by plane today, there's a train station at Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). There are direct trains from CDG to Avignon, departing almost every hour. We'll ensure you get on the right one!

In Avignon, our driver will pick us up at the train station. It's a 30-minute drive to the 4-star La Régalido Villa and Spa hotel in Fontvieille, our home for the week. Check in, unpack, and relax. Upon arrival, we can help you make optional spa appointments to help alleviate jet lag.

We'll have a welcome drink at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner at the hotel's restaurant, where our trip leader will review the week's plans.

Day 2: Thursday, October 21, 2027

After breakfast, we’ll start our morning with a captivating light show at the Quarries, immersing ourselves in an unforgettable display of colors and sounds.

Afterward, we’ll visit the olive oil mill, Le Moulin de la Coquille, in the heart of the Vallée des Baux. Known for its award-winning, extra-virgin olive oil crafted from five distinct olive varieties, this mill produces oil within 24 hours of harvest to capture its rich, green-fruit flavor.

As the afternoon approaches, we’ll settle in to enjoy a leisurely seven-course lunch at Le Bistro du Paradou in the quaint medieval village of Le Paradou.

Our next destination is Pont du Gard, a remarkable example of Roman engineering in France. This grand aqueduct, constructed in the 1st century AD, is the tallest Roman aqueduct bridge in the world, reaching 160 feet in height.

After a fulfilling day, we’ll unwind with a 3-course meal at Le Patio on their stunning shaded terrace. What a perfect way to end our first full day in Provence.

There is nothing quite like a Provençal village

Provence

Provence, in the sun-drenched south of France, is a region where lavender fields, olive groves, and vineyards stretch across rolling hills beneath a backdrop of limestone cliffs and medieval villages. Bathed in golden light that has inspired artists for centuries, it’s a landscape that feels both timeless and alive.

Rooted in a history shaped by ancient Greeks and Romans, Provence retains its past in hilltop fortresses, Roman ruins, and old markets. From herbal scents carried by the Mistral wind to the pastel-colored stone villages, Provence embodies rustic elegance and French charm.

Reviews

"The trip was totally amazing and magical. Our guide, Nancy McGee was wonderful! Not only did she have an incredible tour planned, but was full of history, local and regional knowledge and customs. We saw and did things that the general public may not know about, or able to get in or experience. The group of women were wonderful!! We laughed so hard and everyone was included. Our private vans were clean and modern. The van drivers also gave us historical information along the ride. There were water bottles for all of us every day! Don’t hesitate to sign up. Truly, a once in a lifetime experience. Don’t be afraid to go solo. You will have an immediate bond with all the women."

"I wish I could give a "Girls Guide to Paris" 10 stars instead of 5!!! What a memorable and FUN trip this past October in Provence! You will not find Doni's GG2P itineraries in a tourist guide. Accommodations in a charming bed and breakfast, truffle hunting, personalized cooking classes, unique dining experiences, a wine-tasting in a cave, two dedicated and charming drivers and a great group of gals!! I especially appreciated her kindness, her patience and her understanding of our fitness levels and her making adjustments to accommodate everyone. This attention to detail and her flexibility quickly eased the normal stresses of traveling and helped us all to just "relax and enjoy." Doni's exuberant and engaging personality, combined with her extensive knowledge of France and the Provence area, were an added bonus to my "Trip of a Lifetime!" THANK YOU DONI FOR TURNING MY PROVENCE ADVENTURE INTO A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY!!!I I plan on booking more adventures turns with GG2P in 2023!! I can't wait to see what she has in store for my next adventure!!"

FAQs

The trip officially starts the afternoon of October 20, but if you’re traveling overnight to get to France, consider arriving a day early so you have time to relax and adjust to the local time zone. If you decide to arrive early, you can select Arrive 1 Night Early in the Add-ons section.

Everyone will be arriving at different times, and since it's easy to get into Paris, we haven't included the cost of private airport transfers to the train station in the trip.

When you land in Paris, simply take a cab or an Uber to the Gare de Lyon station after collecting your luggage. They are clean, comfortable, and readily available at Charles de Gaulle airport, and will happily take you to the hotel or train station.

You should fly into Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or Orly (ORY) International Airport. Both offer simple access to the city center of Paris.

We'll have a Zoom call about 10 weeks before the trip starts to discuss all that information and give you a packing list. Here is a great website we love that will help you with packing and travel trips.

October in Provence brings mild, pleasant weather with plenty of sunshine and fewer crowds. Daytime temperatures typically range from 60–70°F (15–21°C), while cooler evenings dip to around 50°F (10°C)—perfect for cozy dinners and strolling through golden vineyards or colorful markets surrounded by autumn’s soft light.

Travelers from visa-exempt countries—including the U.S., Canada, and Australia—will need an ETIAS permit to visit most of Europe. No action is needed just yet. As we get closer to the launch date, likely several months in advance, we’ll share all the details on how to apply. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

We require that everyone traveling with Girls' Guide be able to comfortably walk 3–5 miles per day unassisted, and without difficulty, can navigate stairs, uneven streets or paths, and occasional steep terrain. Most of our trips require this level of physical mobility and fitness, especially when visiting historic towns and landmarks where vehicle access is limited and walking often offers the best experience.

Additionally, some of the 4 and 5-star boutique or historic hotels we stay in do not have elevators and may require climbing stairs to get to your room or access other facilities in the hotel.
