And, of course, every exquisite meal is paired with the region's phenomenal food and world-class wine. Welcome to Fontvieille

Day 1: Wednesday, May 5, 2027

We'll gather at 8:50 am at a cafe near Paris' Gare de Lyon station. A Girls' Guide representative will meet us there and escort us to our train platform, where we'll board our first-class seats. The train leaves at approximately 9:38 am. We'll have a lovely, 3-hour ride through the French countryside to Avignon.

If you're arriving by plane today, there's a train station at Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG). There are direct trains from CDG to Avignon, departing almost every hour. We'll ensure you get on the right one!

In Avignon, our driver will pick us up at the train station. It's a 30-minute drive to the 4-star La Régalido Villa and Spa hotel in Fontvieille, our home for the week. Check in, unpack, and relax. Upon arrival, we can help you make optional spa appointments to help alleviate jet lag.

We'll have a welcome drink at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner at the hotel's restaurant, where our trip leader will review the week's plans.

Aix-en-Provence & Truffle Hunting

Day 2: Thursday, May 6, 2027

Today, after breakfast, we’ll start with a stroll through the lively Lourmarin Market, where you’ll have time to explore charming shops, perhaps finding a unique keepsake or local delicacy.

We'll then make our way to Aix-en-Provence, where you’ll have free time to enjoy lunch on your own at one of the many delightful eateries. Back as a group around 2:30 pm, our guide will show us around the charming old town and iconic Cathédrale Saint-Sauveur.

In the late afternoon, we’ll head to Cadenet to meet our truffle-hunting companions. On a picturesque Provençal farm, we’ll dive into the world of truffles, guided by experts and their well-trained dogs. The experience will end with a delicious truffle tasting by the family pool, complete with champagne. We will also indulge in Charcuterie, fruit, cheese, & vegetables.

After this uniquely local experience, we’ll return to the hotel ready to unwind for the evening. If you are still hungry, there's a Chinese place and a casual French place, both within walking distance of our hotel.

Day 3: Friday, May 7, 2027

We'll start our morning with a relaxed breakfast before heading over to Eygalieres, a lesser-known but beautifully charming village nearby. Here, we'll meet Jane Satow, to shop for ingredients in a local market for our hands-on cooking workshop.

After transferring to the charming St. Remy, we’ll discover the secrets of Provençal flavors at Cuisine Provençale. Once we’ve cooked to our heart's content, we’ll savor our creations over a shared lunch.

Take a bit of time to shop in lovely St. Remy in the afternoon, and we’ll take a thoughtful stroll through St. Paul de Mausole, the former asylum where Van Gogh found solace and inspiration.

A short drive brings us back to the hotel, where you can freshen up for dinner at Chez Paulette and toast one another to another fabulous day in Provence!

Our next destination is Pont du Gard, a remarkable example of Roman engineering in France. This grand aqueduct, constructed in the 1st century AD, is the tallest Roman aqueduct bridge in the world, standing 160 feet tall.

After some time to relax back at the hotel, let's round out this wonderful day with dinner at Le Bistrot du Paradou, a Michelin-recommended bistro that's well-loved by locals.

We've scheduled in a few hours of downtime this evening, allowing you to indulge in a spa treatment at the hotel if you'd like.

Reviews

"The trip was totally amazing and magical. Our guide, Nancy McGee was wonderful! Not only did she have an incredible tour planned, but was full of history, local and regional knowledge and customs. We saw and did things that the general public may not know about, or able to get in or experience. The group of women were wonderful!! We laughed so hard and everyone was included. Our private vans were clean and modern. The van drivers also gave us historical information along the ride. There were water bottles for all of us every day! Don’t hesitate to sign up. Truly, a once in a lifetime experience. Don’t be afraid to go solo. You will have an immediate bond with all the women."

"I wish I could give a "Girls Guide to Paris" 10 stars instead of 5!!! What a memorable and FUN trip this past October in Provence! You will not find Doni's GG2P itineraries in a tourist guide. Accommodations in a charming bed and breakfast, truffle hunting, personalized cooking classes, unique dining experiences, a wine-tasting in a cave, two dedicated and charming drivers and a great group of gals!! I especially appreciated her kindness, her patience and her understanding of our fitness levels and her making adjustments to accommodate everyone. This attention to detail and her flexibility quickly eased the normal stresses of traveling and helped us all to just "relax and enjoy." Doni's exuberant and engaging personality, combined with her extensive knowledge of France and the Provence area, were an added bonus to my "Trip of a Lifetime!" THANK YOU DONI FOR TURNING MY PROVENCE ADVENTURE INTO A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY!!!I I plan on booking more adventures turns with GG2P in 2023!! I can't wait to see what she has in store for my next adventure!!"

FAQs

The trip officially starts the afternoon of May 5, but if you’re traveling overnight to get to France, consider arriving a day early so you have time to relax and adjust to the local time zone. If you decide to arrive early, you can select Arrive 1 Night Early in Paris in the Add-ons section.

Otherwise, if you are riding the train with us from Paris, plan to be at the designated cafe by 8:50 am on May 5.

Everyone will be arriving at different times, and since it's easy to get into Paris, we haven't included the cost of private airport transfers in the trip. When you land in Paris, simply take a cab or an Uber after collecting your luggage. They are clean, comfortable, and readily available at Charles de Gaulle airport, and will take you to the hotel or train station.

You should fly into Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or Orly (ORY) International airport

We'll have a Zoom call about 8 weeks before the trip starts to discuss important logistics and give you packing guidance. In the meantime, here is a great website we love that will help you with packing and travel trips.

In the month of May, the maximum temperature is 67°F and the minimum temperature is 52°F (for an average temperature of 59°F). The climate is rather cool around this time of year.

Beginning in late 2026, travelers from visa-exempt countries—including the U.S., Canada, and Australia—will need an ETIAS permit to visit most of Europe. No action is needed just yet. As we get closer to the launch date, likely several months in advance, we’ll share all the details on how to apply. Feel free to reach out with any questions!

We require that everyone traveling with Girls' Guide be able to comfortably walk 3–5 miles per day unassisted, and without difficulty, can navigate stairs, uneven streets or paths, and occasional steep terrain. Most of our trips require this level of physical mobility and fitness, especially when visiting historic towns and landmarks where vehicle access is limited and walking often offers the best experience.

Additionally, some of the 4 and 5-star boutique or historic hotels we stay in do not have elevators and may require climbing stairs to get to your room or access other facilities in the hotel.

Visit our Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page to see answers to most other questions about traveling with Girls' Guide to the World.
