FAQs
When should I arrive?
The trip officially starts on August 21, but if you’re traveling a long way to Vancouver, consider arriving a day early so you have time to relax and adjust to the local time zone. If you decide to arrive early, you can select Arrive 1 Night Early in Vancouver in the Add-ons section.
What airport should I fly into/out of?
You should fly into Vancouver International Airport (YVR) to begin the trip. Our time together concludes in Calgary, so book onward travel from Calgary International Airport (YYC).
What should I pack?
We'll have a Zoom call about 10 weeks before the trip starts to discuss important trip details and provide some guidance on packing. Here is a great website we love that will help you with packing and travel trips.
What will the weather be like in August?
Late August is a beautiful time to experience both Vancouver and Calgary, with each offering its own distinct feel.
Vancouver enjoys warm, comfortable temperatures typically ranging from 18–24°C (65–75°F), with long daylight hours and relatively low rainfall.
Calgary, set closer to the Canadian Rockies, tends to be slightly warmer during the day, often 20–26°C (68–79°F), with crisp, refreshing evenings and a drier climate.
Do I need a visa to enter Canada?
You'll need your passport to visit Canada. (The days of showing your driver's license at the border are long gone.) The Canadian authorities also reserve the right to refuse entry to people they deem "inadmissible". You can click on this link to see a list of the reasons a Canadian immigration officer might find you to be inadmissible.
What is the activity level of this trip?
We require that everyone traveling with Girls' Guide be able to comfortably walk 3–5 miles per day unassisted, and without difficulty, can navigate stairs, uneven streets or paths, and occasional steep terrain. Most of our trips require this level of physical mobility and fitness, especially when visiting historic towns and landmarks where vehicle access is limited and walking often offers the best experience.
