Sands of Grace: A Women’s Journey Through the Emirates & Oman

Experience the Gulf beyond the horizon

Overview

There's a moment just before sunset in the Arabian desert when everything turns gold. The sky deepens into amber, sand grains glow softly beneath your feet, and even the silence seems touched by warmth. It's a moment that asks nothing of you but gives you everything. What might happen if you allowed yourself to experience moments like these? The Arabian Gulf is often imagined as a place of extremes. Shimmering skylines or endless deserts, modern luxury or ancient tradition. Yet behind these contrasts lies something beautifully elusive. Something quieter and more mysterious, that only reveals itself when you slow down enough to notice. This journey invites you into that quieter place. We'll wander neighborhoods that existed long before the skyscrapers. Women whose stories open a door to the heart of their world will guide you. We'll sit together beneath desert stars, learning the language of stillness. In Abu Dhabi, we'll explore spaces that bridge past and future, and in Oman, find a coastline where the mountains whisper to the sea. Every stop along the way has been carefully chosen. A contemporary hotel rooted deeply in Dubai’s pulse. A desert camp where the world fades away, leaving only space, sand, and sky. A seaside retreat in Muscat, fragrant with frankincense and cooled by ocean breezes. We'll travel differently- more slowly and intentionally, allowing ourselves to be moved, surprised, and perhaps quietly changed. It is about discovering places you never expected and reconnecting with a part of yourself you always knew was there.

Dubai - Historical District & Food Tour

Day 2: Monday, November 8, 2027

Enjoy breakfast before we head to the Al Fahidi neighborhood, one of Dubai's oldest areas. At the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding, we’ll share a traditional Emirati breakfast while engaging in open conversation about local customs and daily life. It’s a chance to ask questions and learn straight from the locals.

We’ll continue with a guided walk through the Al Fahidi Historical District, known for its narrow lanes, wind towers, and restored courtyard homes. Here, you'll get a glimpse into what Dubai was like before the skyscrapers.

Lunch is at Arabian Tea House, a popular Emirati restaurant, offering an authentic taste of local halal cuisine in a friendly environment. Go ahead, this is the perfect place to try a new dish!

This afternoon, we'll visit the Al Shindagha Museum, which features exhibits that showcase Dubai’s history of pearl diving, shipping, and oral traditions.

Next, we’ll head to Dubai Creek, the original center of commerce and daily life before the city expanded outward. We’ll cross the water by abra, a traditional wooden boat still used by locals. Along the way, our guide will share stories about the early days of trade that shaped Dubai.

In the evening, we’ll meet local food guide Arva Ahmed for a walking food tour, exploring lesser-known neighborhoods and sampling regional dishes that reflect the city’s multicultural roots.

Day 3: Tuesday, November 9, 2027

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll start the day with a visit to the Museum of the Future, a striking building shaped like a hollow ellipse. Inside, immersive exhibits offer a vision of how technology could shape the next 50 years of science, space, and society.

From there, we'll sit down for a sun-soaked lunch at Ninive Beach. Perched on a rooftop with clear views of the shimmering sea, Ninive Beach feels like a luxe beach club, complete with plush sunbeds and delicious food served poolside.

You can lounge around the pool for a while, or head to The Dubai Mall & Fountain for a bit of shopping at your leisure.

Around 6 pm, we'll come together as a group to ascend Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. From the observation deck, the views stretch across the city to the desert and sea, a stunning perspective of Dubai’s rapid transformation.

Dinner is at Shimmers, situated on a private stretch of beach with direct views of the Burj Al Arab. The menu focuses on Mediterranean dishes, and the sound of the water laps gently in the background.

Day 4: Wednesday, November 10, 2027

After breakfast, we’ll enjoy a quiet morning at the hotel. Whether you want to revisit a favorite corner of downtown Dubai, relax by the pool, or take one last stroll near the Burj Khalifa, the time is yours.

We’ll leave the city behind by early afternoon and drive into the dunes. Our destination is The Nest by Nara, a private retreat within the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve. Known for its refined Bedouin-style setup and peaceful location, the camp offers an immersive desert experience without sacrificing comfort.

We’ll begin with a guided painting and expression session, drawing inspiration from the landscape. A casual picnic lunch will be served as we work, with the sound of wind in the dunes as our backdrop.

Later this afternoon, we'll climb aboard vintage Land Rovers for a guided nature drive through the reserve, where we'll discover the desert's surprising wildlife, native flora, and fascinating heritage. As the sun dips below the dunes, we’ll participate in a sound bath therapy session, designed to ground and center us in the quiet of the open desert.

Dinner will be served under the stars in a traditional setting, followed by time for stargazing. Far from the city's lights, the night sky reveals a different side of the UAE.

Day5

Abu Dhabi, UAE

Day 5: Thursday, November 11, 2027

After breakfast, we’ll make our way to Abu Dhabi. The drive takes a little over an hour, moving us from desert landscapes to the capital’s more expansive coastline.

Our first stop is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, one of the world's largest mosques. The space feels monumental and serene with its white marble domes, reflective pools, and intricate floral inlays. A guide will walk us through the architecture, explaining the meaning behind its design.

Then, we’ll check into the Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers, an ultra-luxe 5-star hotel right on the West Corniche, a perfect home base for exploring the city. With a private beach, three swimming pools, and stunning views of the Arabian Gulf, take your time exploring the hotel before you find your ideal lunch spot.

In the afternoon, we’ll visit the Louvre Abu Dhabi, which presents global art across a series of light-filled galleries beneath a vast steel dome. The architecture is as compelling as the collection, with artworks spanning continents and centuries.

Before we leave, we’ll pause at the Art Lounge, the museum’s rooftop bar, for a drink at sunset. As the light filters through the dome’s perforations, the view across the water is something to remember.

FAQs

You should fly into Dubai International Airport (DXB). It's approximately 14 kilometers from Downtown Dubai, where our accommodation, The Dubai EDITION, is located. A private transfer will meet you at the airport.

For departure flights, you have two options. Zayed International Airport (AUH) in Abu Dhabi is only a 30-minute drive away and offers many onward flights each day. Alternatively, Dubai is about a 1.5-hour drive away. Either way, we'll arrange a private transfer that aligns with your flight time.

The trip officially starts on November 7th, but if you're traveling across an ocean to get to Dubai, consider arriving a day early to allow time for relaxation and settling in. If you do decide to arrive early, you can book directly on the website under the Add-ons section. We'll ensure that you are kept in the same room throughout the beginning of the trip.

We'll have a Zoom call about 6 weeks before the trip starts to discuss all that information and give you a packing list. Here is a great website that we love that will help you with packing and travel trips.

In November, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Muscat experience warm, sunny days with average highs around  88°F (31°C), cooler evenings near  66°F (19°C), and minimal rainfall, making it an ideal time for outdoor activities and exploration.

Great news—traveling to the UAE (Dubai and Abu Dhabi) is pretty straightforward! Many nationalities, including U.S. and much of Europe, can get a free visa on arrival that lets you stay for up to 30 days.

Oman also makes it easy with an electronic visa (eVisa) that you can apply for online before your trip—it’s quick, simple, and saves you airport stress. Since rules can change, we recommend checking the latest requirements for your passport before you travel. However, if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out and we'll help sort things out.

We require that everyone traveling with Girls' Guide be able to comfortably walk 3–5 miles per day unassisted, and without difficulty, can navigate stairs, uneven streets or paths, and occasional steep terrain. Most of our trips require this level of physical mobility and fitness, especially when visiting historic towns and landmarks where vehicle access is limited and walking often offers the best experience.

Additionally, some of the 4 and 5-star boutique or historic hotels we stay in do not have elevators and may require climbing stairs to get to your room or access other facilities in the hotel.
