Nowhere does Christmas better than Alsace. Medieval castles, storybook villages, twinkling lights, and authentic artisan markets will ignite your Christmas spirit. Our trip starts in Strasbourg, the heart of Europe, where we’ll explore the picture-perfect towns of Obernai and Colmar, which are so enchanting that they’ll seem like they belong in a fairy tale. Enjoy festive magic, stay in beautiful historic hotels, and taste authentic Alsatian cuisine. From cozy Winstubs—traditional wine bars serving hearty meals—to a Michelin-starred restaurant experience, every meal is a celebration. Wandering through Colmar, we’ll take a guided history tour, discovering its fascinating past and stunning architecture. We’ll also visit the Choco-Story chocolate museum to learn chocolate-making secrets and craft our own creations. For indulgence, we’ll enjoy a rejuvenating massage at L’Esquisse Hotel & Spa, followed by relaxation in their wellness facilities. It’s the perfect way to unwind after exploring Alsace's magical landscapes. This trip offers one of the best Christmas gifts you could receive—a blend of relaxation, history, and festive delights that will leave you with unforgettable memories.

You will want to fly into Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or Orly (ORY) airports in Paris. Once you touchdown, hail a taxi into town to meet your guide at Gare de l'Est train station. We will take care of booking your train tickets to Strasbourg for you. If you are arriving in Paris the day the trip starts, please make sure your flight arrives no later than 10 am.
If you are traveling across an ocean to get to France, consider arriving a day early so you have time to relax and adjust to the local time zone. If you do decide to arrive early, you can book an extra night in Paris in our Add-on section. Arranging your accommodation with us ensures you stay in the same room once the trip starts.
We will have a Zoom call about 8-10 weeks before the trip starts to discuss all that information and give you a packing list. Here is a great website we love that will help you with packing and travel trips.
In December, in Strasbourg, the average high temperature is 5.5°C (42°F), and the average low temperature is 0.8°C (33°F). It can be cold, overcast, and you may even experience snow.
Beginning in late 2026, travelers from visa-exempt countries—including the U.S., Canada, and Australia—will need an ETIAS permit to visit most of Europe. No action is needed just yet. As we get closer to the launch date, likely several months in advance, we’ll share all the details on how to apply. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
We require that everyone traveling with Girls' Guide be able to comfortably walk 3–5 miles per day unassisted, and without difficulty, can navigate stairs, uneven streets or paths, and occasional steep terrain. Most of our trips require this level of physical mobility and fitness, especially when visiting historic towns and landmarks where vehicle access is limited and walking often offers the best experience.
Additionally, some of the 4 and 5-star boutique or historic hotels we stay in do not have elevators and may require climbing stairs to get to your room or access other facilities in the hotel.
