Overview
Barcelona and the Costa Brava should be at the top of your travel bucket list. Catalonia is a unique region in Spain with its own language and culture. It has cultivated a distinct Catalan identity and way of life, setting it apart from the rest of Spain, and its people take pride in this uniqueness. Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is remarkable. Known for Antoni Gaudí's masterpieces, such as Sagrada Familia and Palau Güell, the city blends Roman history and the medieval alleys of the Gothic Quarter with modernist architecture. We'll explore Barcelona's food scene, from tapas bars and markets to contemporary restaurants, and enjoy the variety and quality of Catalan cuisine. Then we'll head northeast along the Mediterranean coast to the Costa Brava, using the ancient Girona area as our home base. We'll stay in a recently converted palace while exploring the region's historical and artistic highlights. Walk through cobblestone streets, admire the Girona Cathedral, and enjoy the colorful houses along the Onyar River as you reflect on the Costa Brava's blend of art and history. Leave the details to us and enjoy the holiday of a lifetime in Barcelona and the Costa Brava!

FAQs
What airport should I fly into?
Fly into the Barcelona International Airport (BCN) and hop into a taxi or an Uber to the hotel - both are safe, clean, and plentiful. Your trip leader will meet you at the hotel.
When should I arrive?
The trip officially starts on April 8th, 2027, but if you are traveling overnight to get to Spain, consider arriving a day early to give yourself time to relax and adjust to the local time zone.
If you do decide to arrive early, you can purchase the 'Arrive 1 Day Early' option in the Add-ons section. We'll reserve your room and ensure you stay in the same room from the start of the trip.
What should I pack?
We will have a Zoom call about 6 weeks before the trip starts to discuss all that information and give you a packing list. Here is a great website that we love that will help you with packing and travel trips.
What will the weather be like?
The average temperature is generally around 65°F during the day, and 55°F at night.
What are the new travel requirements for entering Europe?
Beginning in late 2026, travelers from visa-exempt countries—including the U.S., Canada, and Australia—will need an ETIAS permit to visit most of Europe. No action is needed just yet. As we get closer to the launch date, likely several months in advance, we’ll share all the details on how to apply. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
What is the activity level of this trip?
We require that everyone traveling with Girls' Guide be able to comfortably walk 3–5 miles per day unassisted, and without difficulty, can navigate stairs, uneven streets or paths, and occasional steep terrain. Most of our trips require this level of physical mobility and fitness, especially when visiting historic towns and landmarks where vehicle access is limited and walking often offers the best experience.
Additionally, some of the 4 and 5-star boutique or historic hotels we stay in do not have elevators and may require climbing stairs to get to your room or access other facilities in the hotel.
