There is no place like Rome, period. This city wears history on its sleeve. Here, fashion and contemporary design lives happily next to ancient ruins. Autumn in Rome is the ideal time to enjoy lively markets and charming piazzas, browsing boutiques for leather goods and the latest looks. It remains rich with glorious historical ruins and, of course, delicious Italian food. We’ll taste our way through the most famous and charming Roman neighborhoods, including Campo de Fiori, Trastevere, and the Jewish Ghetto. Along the way, we'll enjoy everything from Michelin-star farm-to-table restaurants to secret neighborhood coffee gems to humble trattorias boasting spectacular local cheeses, cured meats, pizza, and gelato. Then, there is the phenomenal wine … Interspersed with the culinary delights and shopping experiences available only to “those in the know,” we'll explore not-to-be-missed historical sites, like the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and Vatican City for those who have never been during our pre-trip (Intro to Rome). During the core trip, we'll leave the city for a day and head to the hilly Castelli Romani region to visit spectacularly beautiful historic towns and a gorgeous lake. We'll also sample the wine. This is where the Pope heads when it gets too hot in Rome. Back in Rome, we'll experience the opera while drinking Prosecco. On another day, we'll try our hand at pasta making. This itinerary is a slice of Rome for journey women, not tourists. It's a trip you'll enjoy whether you're a first-timer or visited 100 times or more.
