Girls’ Guide to the World is a boutique travel site providing honest and unbiased travel reviews you can use. We cover hotels, restaurants, bars, shops, spas, and other activities in select destinations around the world. The idea of the site is best summed up by some of the press Girls' Guide has received.
Martha Stewart Weddings remarked, "...we women are clearly the superior sex, capable of pulling information from an alarming number of first-hand accounts, magazine articles, websites, books, stores, and everything else under the sun and organizing it into a coherent itinerary. Also, we talk. Really talk. To each other. But we could use a hand sometimes. If you're a little overwhelmed about planning your trip, you should definitely consult Girls' Guide To the World, a website that has compiled information on the coolest locations across the globe (hello, Reykjavik!), including where to stay, eat, shop, and pamper yourself. After all, we need all the help we can get!"
Pacific Weddings – Love Notes blogged, “The first time I traveled to Europe, I immediately emailed all of my friends (who in turn reached out to their friends), to get the inside scoop on where to go and what to see and do. After all, if there is anyone's opinion I trust most, it is my dearest girlfriends. I touched down in Paris armed with a tiny notebook listing which neighborhoods to explore, museums to peruse, chic cafés to pass the time, and a few not-to-be-missed hotels to rest my head. It was a personal itinerary tailored to my taste, in the reliable words of my stylish friends. Isn't this the ultimate way to experience a holiday? Enter the Girls Guide to the World, a boutique travel site connecting like-minded travelers with insightful tips for women, by women with discerning taste.”

The site is the creation of Carey Schuster. An interior designer by trade, Carey melded three passions - design, writing, and traveling – into an idea that has evolved into the site you now see. Always having a craving for outstanding design, cuisine, entertainment, fashion, and architecture, Carey realized that these cravings seemed to magnify anytime she found herself on the road, or in a new destination.
In her own words, “When I choose to spend the money and time to travel, I don’t want to be disappointed. I want to eat at the tasty restaurant off of Main Street that the locals are trying to keep secret. I want to stay at the hippest hotels, which doesn’t always mean the most publicized or most expensive. And when I hit the shops, I want to know about up and coming local designers and where to find their labels. That’s where Girls’ Guide delivers. There is no better advice than a discerning woman’s first hand account.”
Realizing that she wasn’t alone in this attitude, Carey created a place where others who share a passion for top rate traveling could come together, share their experiences, and receive unbiased tips on where to go and what to know. Girls' Guide to the World readers work, play, and travel the world, contributing distinguished tastes and a demanding appetite for honest quality information.

As members of the Girls’ Guide community, a privileged group of travelers, we can’t help but realize how fortunate we are. We see the world as a magnificent place full of beauty, adventure, education, and hope. Unfortunately, not all women have the same freedoms and opportunities that we enjoy. Women in war-torn regions live day-by-day enduring unimaginable violence and atrocities. As a community of women, Girls’ Guide supports Women for Women International’s effort to help change the lives of our sisters who are survivors of war, civil strife, and other conflicts. Applying a holistic approach, Women for Women International, provides the tools and resources – financial and emotional aid, job-skills training, education, and small business assistance – to help rebuild the lives of women in conflict and post-conflict environments. As we strengthen these women, we are also supporting the children and entire communities by promoting stability, education, opportunity, and peaceful civil societies.
